In April 2012, Jo set up North London Neuro Physio.

Jo qualified with a graduate diploma from King’s College Hospital School of Physiotherapy in 1990. She has specialised in neurology since 1992. Since qualifying she has worked in several NHS hospitals including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, King’s College Hospital and the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU), Homerton Hospital where she was the Clinical Specialist physiotherapist in neurology. In addition she has worked at a specialist neurorehabilitation clinic in southern Germany.

She completed a Masters degree in neurorehabilitation at Brunel University in 2000.

She is an active member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN) having been on the executive committee for 10 years and Co Chairman from 2008 to 2010. Since 2006 Jo has been working in private practice. She was Practice Director of the Hampstead Physiotherapy Practice for 6 years where she also set up a neurology service.

Jo also continues to teach on a variety of postgraduate / MSc courses as well as providing clinical supervision to several NHS services.

Helle joined North London Neuro Physio as a partner in April 2013.

Helle qualified with a BSc (1st class Hons) from King’s College London in 1998. She has specialised in neurological physiotherapy since 2000 working as a senior neuro physiotherapist at the Homerton Hospital and King’s College Hospital. In 2006 she took up the role of clinical lead physiotherapist in the neuro rehabilitation team in Southwark, providing community services to the local acute trusts of King’s College and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals.

Helle completed her MSc in Physiotherapy (with distinction) at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, in 2011. She has a special interest in vestibular rehabilitation and physical activity and exercise participation for people with neurological conditions. In Southwark she was responsible for the management and sustainability of an innovative physio-led gym exercise group “Physio Pulse”, run in collaboration with Southwark Council in a local leisure centre.

Helle was a committee member of the London Region of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN) for several years until 2018, having been chairman from 2012 to 2016.

Penny qualified with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Brighton in 1997. She has worked in various London NHS hospitals and specialised in neurology since 1999.

She most recently worked as the lead physiotherapist for orthotics at the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU) at Homerton Hospital. Prior to this, she worked for seven years in the RNRU Outreach Team specialising in treating neurology patients in the community. She completed her MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of East London in 2011.

Penny has been working in private practice since 2011.

Jayne graduated with a Graduate Diploma from Bath School of Physiotherapy in 1985 and has specialised in the field of neurology and neuro rehabilitation since 1987. She spent 5 years working in Spaulding Rehabiliation Hospital in Boston, USA where she developed a greater depth and understanding of the rehabilitation of patients who had suffered stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury as well as patients with an oncology diagnosis.

Jayne returned to the UK and worked in a number of NHS hospitals including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disabilty in Putney. She was Therapy Manager leading a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team within a private London hospital until 2000. Since this time she has been working within the field of community neuro rehabilitation.

Jayne has a special interest in the assessment of appropriate seating of the complex disabled person, gait rehabilitation and orthotics.

Andrea qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 1995 from Kings College, London after gaining a BA in Human Movement Studies in 1990. She has worked in a variety of settings at Homerton Hospital and Guy & St Thomas’ and led the Oncology team at Guys before returning to Homerton to specialise in Neurology in 2002. There she worked in the Stroke Unit, Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU) and the Outreach Team specialising in acquired brain injury in the community.

She completed her MSc in Rehabilitation at St George’s University, London in 2009. Following this she gained an extra MSc module in injection therapy from Plymouth University and has been an injecting clinician in the Botulinum Toxin Spasticity clinic at the RNRU since 2012.

Andrea was a committee member of the London Region of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN) for several years until 2019.

Emma gained her BSc (Hons) in physiotherapy from Kings College London University in 2001. She specialised in neurology in 2003 and has been employed in several roles within the NHS as a senior neurophysiotherapist at Kings College Hospital from 2006-2018.

Emma worked as joint team lead for the acute neurorehabilitation team between 2012 and 2018, developing expert assessment and treatment skills across various clinical areas and developed particular interest in brain injury. She uses extensive experience of managing a broad range of neurological conditions within acute, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient and community settings to provide individually tailored care. Emma also has an active interest in the use of applied Pilates in neurological conditions and the management of those with vestibular disorders.

Glenn qualified with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from Curtin University in Western Australia. He began his career in Australia before moving to London and starting work at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in 2007. He was awarded an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Fellowship in 2014 and while working at the National Hospital he completed his PhD at the UCL Institute of Neurology on the topic of physiotherapy for functional neurological disorder (FND).

In 2017 he took up a clinical academic post at St George’s University of London where he leads a specialist physiotherapy service for FND and is an active member of the Motor Control and Movement Disorders research group. He is currently leading a large multicentre randomised controlled trial of physiotherapy for FND.

Glenn has experience in broad range of neurological disorders, including movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and dystonia. He has a special interest in functional motor symptoms (FND) and he has published a number of academic articles and textbook chapters on this topic. He is also a committee member for London Association of Charted Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN).

Chris has 30 years’ experience as a physiotherapist and lecturer. His particular interests are neurological rehabilitation, patient and public involvement, quality improvement and the effect of policy and politics on health and social care services. He has worked extensively with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the NHS to support these. He is also a committee member for the London branch of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN).

Chris qualified with a Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy in 1991. He completed a MSc in Neurorehabilitation from Brunel University in 1999.

Chris worked in a variety of community and hospital settings for 12 years predominantly with people with neurological conditions before lecturing in physiotherapy for 18 years.

Chris has been working exclusively in private practice since July 2021.

Charlotte qualified with a BSC (hons) in Physiotherapy in 2006 from Birmingham University and has specialised in Neurology since 2009. She has extensive experience in a broad range of neurological conditions since working in inpatient and community settings in the NHS. She has led a multi-disciplinary stroke rehabilitation team, been the lead physiotherapist for a community Neuro team and worked as a highly specialised physiotherapist at the Regional Neuro Rehabilitation Unit at Homerton Hospital. She has also volunteered in India providing a physiotherapy service to young adults and training to local therapists and carers.

Charlotte is trained in the Bobath concept and prides herself on treating people holistically to improve their movement. She has also undertaken training in electrical stimulation, orthotics and Pilates.
